A few months ago, I was fortunate to spend time with four amazing high school friends. It was our 30 year high school reunion weekend and the five of us got together because so many of us were not be able to attend the larger event. Okay, so admitting it was 30 years out loud pretty much dates me… oh well. There is something special when you get to this age that is so freeing. We may not visit with each other everyday, but we all pick back up as if no time had passed. Do you have old high school friends like that?
Especially as moms, a weekend to get away, to only be responsible for ourselves for just a little while…I’m not gonna lie…a tiny bit glorious! We had 24 hours of pure fun and laughs and surprises. All arranged around a Maroon 5 concert with crappy seats, but hey, we were together so we were going to pretend not to care. Sat by the pool all day with drinks in our hands and then off to a delicious dinner! Let me talk for 2 seconds about this dinner @ Grotto downtown Houston…I had the Kale salad and gluten free pasta. I swear, there was not a bowl big enough for the kale salad!! I know what you are thinking…kale…really? What’s so special about that? Heck if I know what heaven they put in it, but yes, I still dream of that salad. One of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. You have to go try it! It is only offered at this location too…don’t think I haven’t stalked others.
Girls High School Reunion Weekend + Maroon 5 Floor Seats = Yes Please!
Anyway, after dinner we are off to the concert. We get in there and start to make our trek up to the nose bleed section, and this guy stops us to ask if we want floor seats. Now, at my age you get a little skeptical, so I looked him straight in the eyes and said… of course we do! LOL Anyway, not sure where those came from, but we grabbed them and headed down to the floor. We were given 18th row and right next to the stage. Can I say that totally changed the concert! Adam Levine rocks and is such a great entertainer. He NEVER tires… So, great night with the girls and more memories to keep us until the next time.
The next morning it was a delicious brunch and then back to the crazy of our lives. Looking back on these friendships it makes me realize how lucky we are that we stayed in touch all of these years. Through kids, divorce, sickness and moving. Friendships don’t seperate!
