Well, I am headed to the beach and it’s going to be cold there too! We can’t escape it. So, I guess I’m packing for the beach with cold weather ahead. My hubby and our friends will be doing a run while we are there…I, will be cheering on from the side with my basket of wine and cheese and a blanket. I am such a good friend! 😉
So, how do I pack for the beach while it’s in the 50’s and 60’s? I will start with my travel outfit. Using part of this outfit on the way home helps to cut down the amount of clothing I bring. I can always wash anything that feels gross for the way back. We always stay in an Airbnb which gives us more comforts of home.
Packing For An Event
This first thing I do when I pack is to ask myself if we have anything special that would require a dressier look than what I normally bring to the beach? We will be attending a local food and wine event and I know I will see all types of dress there. It is still the beach, so I won’t get carried away. The ground is always soft, so I take that into consideration for my shoes! There is also a ton of walking, so I want to be stylish, but comfortable.
I try to create a capsule when packing, but I also try to use part of my event outfit another way. What is capsule packing? Depending on how many days I am there it can vary between 2-3 bottoms, 3-4 tops and 2 jackets and then mixing these up to create endless outfits! I won’t lie to you…the shoes are my problem. They always have been ;). It’s so hard to limit my shoes.
What’s In My Bag?
I always start with my pj’s and personal undergarments. For 5 days there, I will pack 2 pj sets. I ALWAYS pack fuzzy socks. The plane is always freezing and my feet are always cold at night. Then I figure out my 2 travel days and how I can re-wear something twice. From there, I plan my event outfit and what other looks I can get from it. So, with 2 travel days, that leaves me with 3 days of looks.
My capsule is going to look like this: I packed 2 bottoms. Right now, I am loving our cabi Cropped high straight jeans. So light weight and comfortable…perfect for vacation! My other pair of jeans are these high waisted button front jeans from Jcrew. I am packing 3 sweaters and 2 outerwear cardigans (the Exhale Cardigan and the Counsel Cardigan, the black Counsel Cardigan, I can use over the top AND as a dress! Two fers…love those! My event outfit is this darling light weight high waisted maxi from free people with a white t-shirt and a casual jean jacket over the top. I will totally re-use the white t-shirt and jean jacket while I am there.
It looks like I may have a pink problem! Anyway, I will finally pack my shoes, which will consist of one wedge sandal for my event, a flat slip on mule and then 2 sneakers. One is a leopard print that I can mix and match with anything and then the other is my classic Adidas. It’s going to be rainy and cold, so I am not going to bother with any that could ruin. I am contemplating my rain boots, but they are so heavy to pack. So, I think just the combo of sneakers and my flats. I will be taking an everyday bag as well as a clutch for my nights out. These two are my absolute favorites right now.
I am hoping this was helpful. It was actually helpful for me to stay the course of not overpacking!! I am great when I am packing you guys and not so great when I am packing for myself. Happy Spring Break!
